What is one thing everybody can do for the Earth?
Appreciate it. This includes enjoying it, respecting it, and educating others on ways to appreciate it.
Do you think we can change the world?
Absolutely. We are the ones inhabiting this earth, we have the power to destroy it or take care of it.

How often do you turn yourself off from electronic devices and go outside?
Being on my phone is naturally a huge part of my work and I have a very strict policy that I hold with myself to turn off and get outside. It's as simple as leaving my phone at home to take a walk to the park. I find it liberating and it gives me the ability to be present and reenergize.
Was there a time in your life where you were in nature and you felt pure joy and connection with the Earth?
Last year, I went on a 4 mile, amphibious, waterfall adventure hike. It included a 30 ft rappel to access the base of the falls and other countless challenges that included boulder hopping, waterfall jumps, and balancing on logs. I've never felt so connected to myself and all of the earthly beauty around me.

What does Earth Day mean to you? Why does it matter?
To me, Earth Day is about awareness and reminding yourself that you are part of this planet which is a living organism. It is a reminder to be a positive member of the global ecosystem. Earth Day matters because it is a reminder that you are part of something greater than yourself, which is important because it is so often that we get wrapped up in our own lives and lose touch with the fact that we are a part of something much greater.
Do you think we can change the world?
We already have, and unfortunately we have made it a less habitable environment. If our global mindset shifts, then we can absolutely change the world in a positive way.

Was there a time in your life where you were in nature and you felt pure joy and connection with the Earth?
Yes! Every time I sit and watch the sunset, it's a daily reminder of how lucky we are to witness such magic - but one of my favorite moments was when I was in Iceland, surrounded by nothing but mother earth, lost in her wonder. She's a reminder of how big the world really is, and how small your problems are.
How often do you turn yourself off from electronic devices and go outside?
Every single day. Sometimes I purposely leave my phone in my hotel room / home to force myself to be present - in the moment - without distraction.

Why does Earth Day matter to you?
I have a deep connection with our Mother Earth. It all started with my own mother, who, at a young age, had me in the garden, planting seeds, weeding, and to this day, she still has me pick the vegetables and fruit from her garden. Those seeds sprouted into a deep love and appreciation for the Earth and for where our food comes from.
Sit outside and feel the connection between you and the Earth. What does it mean to you? If nothing speaks to you, close your eyes and think of your happy place. Is it in a forest? On a mountain? On the sand? In the sky?
My natural home is the beach. The cadence of the waves keep me in tune with my mind, the sun rejuvenates me and the breeze makes me feel alive. That's my happy place.

Was there a time in your life where you were in nature and felt pure joy and connection with the Earth?
've never felt more in touch with nature than when I traveled through Iceland. There is a place in Iceland called Seljavallalaug, which was a place where I felt completely connected with the Earth. I swam in this hot pool until I was completely wrinkled. Time didn't even matter. It was so warm and after going in, it's a bit hard to jump back out into the 40 degree air. The volcano in the background erupted in 2010 and is completely covered by an ice cap, a river flows right next to the pool on the right, and hot water trickles in from the raw mountainside. It's off the beaten path, and you have to do a short hike to get there. The only word to describe it is: breathtaking.
Do you think we can change the world?
We can change the world. We have to be kind to ourselves, to others, to animals, and the land and waters surrounding us.
